Maruf Sharker Munna

Maruf Sharker Munna is a rising voice in Bangladesh’s literary and creative landscape — a young poet, author, filmmaker, photographer and social thinker who weaves emotion, philosophy and social truth into every piece of work he creates. Born on November 27, 2003, in the serene village of Khorddo Saptana, nestled in the heart of Lalmonirhat, Maruf grew up surrounded by the simple beauty and hidden struggles of rural life — a reality that deeply influences his art and activism. From an early age, Munna showed a remarkable sensitivity to the world around him. His journey in education began at Church of God High School and Ideal Pre-Cadet School, where his curiosity and creativity began to flourish. He later attended Tejgaon Adarsha School & College, and Lalmonirhat Adarsha College for his secondary and higher secondary education. Currently, he is pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) — combining technology and creativity in his pursuit of innovation and impact. Maruf is best known for his poetry, short stories, and essays, which explore the depths of human emotion, social injustice, love, loneliness, dreams, and the silent cries of the unheard. His literary voice is both gentle and bold — a reflection of youth seasoned with empathy and wisdom beyond his years. His celebrated short story collection, PostApis (2024), captures the life of a rural girl navigating grief, injustice, and silent strength — a powerful commentary on gender, loss, and societal neglect. Beyond the written word, Munna is a self-taught filmmaker and passionate photographer, using film and images as extensions of his voice. His visuals often tell the stories that go unnoticed — the quiet resilience of the poor, the poetry in everyday life, and the unspoken fears of modern youth. His short films and documentaries blend emotion and minimalism, aiming to spark awareness and change. He is also a digital storyteller and shares his creations through various platforms, including his personal blog and YouTube channel, where audiences can experience his poetry recitations, film projects, and personal reflections. He has also been featured on renowned literary sites like Bangla Kobita and PBS Bangladesh, gaining recognition for his unique voice and dedication to social commentary. Maruf Sharker Munna is more than just a creator — he is a voice for change, empathy, and expression. His work stands as a bridge between generations, between tradition and modernity, and between the silenced and the spoken. Whether through ink, lens, or voice, Munna continues to inspire a generation to think, feel, and act with heart.
